Wood flooring subfloor questions -- picture ID
Hi all, can someone kindly educate me on this picture I took here of our new construction. This is on the 2nd floor and we are having engineered wood floor installed. My questions are pretty remedial I suppose.
1. What type of wood is this (pictured below) that they have laid down, I guess for the subfloor? 2. What do the long greyish line markings that look like drawn pencil marks signify? Are these markings most likely just on the stock wood itself (they don't always line up board to board)? We just want to make sure the markings aren't an indicator of which direction the floorings is going to be laid down. 3. Looks like one of the boards has a small gouge in it they circled in spray paint? Are they flagging this to patch so it doesn't creak later on when the boards are laid down? Much appreciated folks

Wood flooring subfloor questions -- picture ID
This looks like OSB (oriented strand board) to me- I have the same thing in my kitchen, which I'm in the process of renovating... I had to look it up myself to figure out what the heck it is. But it looks just like what I have in there... so, unless someone else thinks I'm wrong, I'm pretty confident that that's what this is.
The other questions, honestly, I haven't a clue about. Sorry! |

That is OSB (beaver barf). The pencil lines are on it sometimes when you buy it. The circle is a place that needs the be filled or patched.
