Question

Wood flooring over curved concrete steps

I have a sunken living room which we love. However, we have three different steps into the living room that are all curved and it's poured concrete.
There is currently carpet covering the steps and we'd like to lay hardwood or laminate down. How do we deal with these steps?

Do you build the wood step over them? Hire a concrete cutter? Help. Ideas please.

I took a picture, but not sure how to upload it.

The front of the step is rounded. Think semi-circle.

Not sure the answers on the other questions. Sorry.

There is only one step. The second step is the floor into the dining room and kitchen (under construction right now). That is flat.

ok, so then what I think I would do is cut a piece of plywood (1/2" or 5/8") into a rectangular shape that covers the curved step and over hangs the curve enough for some framing. then build some framing to support the over hanging edges. glue and tap-con it in place and then cover it with your choice of hardwood or laminate as you would with a normal wood sub-floor.

because it is a fairly deep step, there is room for you to build a fascia to face the upper riser, you can top it with plywood to match your upper floor.
