Wood Flooring is on the move
Hi, help please .... we laid an oak wood floor about a year ago, we didn't go for laminate but this is similar stuff - you know, t&g planks that lay on top of original floor.

Anyway, the packs were left for a couple of months in the house to acclimatise, we laid the underfloor stuff then the wood flooring. We left the required spacing all way round and let it lay for 4 weeks before putting on the skirting boards, hoping that if there was to be any movement we could rectify it without taking off skirting boards.

It did move and we sorted it and put on the skirting boards. About 3 months later it buckled up across the middle of the floor so off came the skirting boards and we lifted the floor back to the problem area, laid it again and this time as well as putting on the skirting boards we fitted a brass step across about 5 ft at the end of the floor as the room goes into the lounge (small step down into the room).

We were pleased with the finished effect but now find (after a year of being laid) that again it has buckled up in exactly the same place and the movement of the wood has started to push the brass step off!! It's an even bigger job now to rectify and we don't want to be forever taking the floor up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Why is it doing this?

What is the brand and type of flooring---

It's a B&Q floor. The wood is oak but I can't give you any more detail as the packaging has long gone.
