I have been shopping for engineered floors to replace carpet on 1st and 2nd floors. I know I will go with engineered (probably something like brazilian cherry floating) on the first floor.
the 2nd floor however, has solid hardwood in some rooms. the house was build almost 30 years ago, and the hardwood is 1/4" thick. I searched all over the internet and I cannot find anything like this. I want to get solid hardwood with the same thickness so the hallway will be level with the bedrooms.... this not only looks good, but also is safer. I don't want the hallway to be higher than the top of the stairs, which would cause people to slip and roll down the stairs.. not a pretty scene.
