Where do you place the tack strip at the laminate/carpet transition?

Hi, I just have a quick question. I've removed the carpet in the hallway so I can place laminate there. Some of the rooms off of the hallway still have carpet so I'm having to install a tack strip at each doorway. Where exactly should the tack strip be placed to ensure that the transition fits well. Just under the carpet or back under the carpet a bit?
