Where to buy natural stone tiles?

Any thoughts? Found some sites that sell by the pallet and then there's Lowes, HD, and the Tile Shop locally. I'm probably doing travertine in shower and bath floor.

I'm in Maryland.

You can't go anywhere without seeing natural stone tiles, they are everywhere.

Sorry - I was looking for the best deals. Can I shop by sqft price alone for the same honed, filled, etc? Any particular places that are good or bad?

How much tile are you looking for? There should be great deals everywhere in the country right now with this economic climate.

Be a smart shopper---buy locally--any experienced tile setter will cry when they hear that the tile is being shipped from out of state.

Wrong color---mismatched lot numbers --breakage---missing boxed--and more---each mistake takes a week or two to correct---I had one that cost me a months delay--

The next job for her I priced so high that I did not get the job---and I was so happy.

I'll need about 350 sqft for the master bath, but would consider buying enough for a second bath if I find the right deal.

Ive had bad experiences with some local shops. Can't even get salesmen to talk to me sometimes. (MSI international showroom) Guess the economy is not that bad here.

Unfortunately (for you) MS International is a major-player in the industry east of the Mississippi and is likely to be one of your best-bets. The problem is in the world of tile 350 square feet isn't much tile at all. You aren't in much of a position to bargain. Maybe give them another chance.

Usually salesmen in that industry are working on commission and I would think they would want to talk to any potential customer about any quantity.

I have purchased travertine and tumbled marble, many times over the last few years. Yesterday, I saw 16"x16" honed and filled travertine for 2.00 a Sq. foot at HD.
