Question

What are These Floating Floor Baseboard Products?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hLKT...layer_embedded

At 04:08 to 04:24 in the video there are some attachments that are installed to the wall before the baseboards. Can anyone tell me what they are and where I might find them? In your opinion, are they necessary? cheers.

I think that's an engineered base trim, specifically designed by that company.

I've never used anything like that. I've always just applied regular base trim after laying the hardwood laminate.

I thought so too, but they have nothing like that on their site. I wish they would have had a little narration in the vid.

Actually, their "clip & click" system looks less than ideal to me. Rarely is a floor perfectly smooth and level - as it would have to be for those base trim pieces to snap into the clips.

There is never really any "up pressure" on floating laminate floors. Essentially, they become one huge rigid sheet of flooring, and their own weight keeps them down. Essentially, the base trim is nothing more than that - trim (and, in my case, a great way to hide all your little mistakes!).
