What kind of wood?

Hi all. Is this red or white oak? I hope the pic is good enough. https://blu170.mail.live.com/att/Get...t=160&size=Att

I don't see the manage attachments button anywhere.

It says in posting rules at bottom left of page that i can't post attachments. I wonder why that is.

Some have been having that issue lately, it works for me.

You can also click the image icon above the text box and paste the image url there.

You can click the image icon or attachment icon on the status bar of reply box.

While we are figuring out how you can attach photos. Why are you asking whether you have one type of oak flooring or another? Are you trying to patch a damaged section or something? If it has been laying in place for a century or so, what species it is will not help you much at this point. You have to match its stain color and the finish over it as best you can. And whether you use white or red oak for the repair. The grain will be a bit different but that is the least of your problems.

You might want to update your profile with basic geographic information. We might be able to tell you what kind of oak you have just by the forests you are near if you have an antique home. Lumber mills used to supply close to home.

By the way, the attachment management screen is not so obvious as suggested. You have to "go advanced" by clicking in the bottom right of your post screen. Then scroll down and you will see a "manage attachments" block.

This site has weird rules nobody understands about posting even its own images. I forget how many posts you need to have status enough to post any.
