what is the ideal thickness (mm) for Vinyl floors(wood look alike)

Hello all,
I am looking to change the floors in my living room, I live in the bay in Miami and the humidity and salt water takes a toll on everything.

The reasons I am interested in vinyl are that it's waterproof and there is little to no chance that if water seeps in the vinyl will be damaged as easily as the laminate, the second reason is a termite problem that hopefully will be resolved in my building.

So I've checked lumber liquidators and other sites, I am looking for a light gray wood color, the problem is finding the one and also knowing which is the thickness, some of them are 1.5mm other 4mm, I am not sure what is the appropriate thickness, any assistance is much appreciated.
