What is a good price for decent carpet for the size of my house?

Hi, I want to put carpet in most of the rooms of my house. I would like to get a decent quality carpet and pad but the prices I have been quoted have been all over the board. I was hoping someone can give me an idea of how much I should spend on carpet and what size pad or carpet is recommended. Thanks.

The total sq.ft of carpet area is 676.87 sq ft
The total yards : 75.208 sq yds.

Room 1 : 13.1 feet X 13.4 feet
Room 2 : 9.90 feet X 13.3 feet
Room 3 : 11.3 feet X 11.5 feet
Room 4 : 11.4 feet X 11.5 feet
Room 5 : 9.20 feet X 9.34 feet
Hallway : 3.50 feet X 7.30 feet

Any info would be appreciated. My prices range from $950 - $2100.

Asking how much and what type of carpet you should buy is like asking what kind of car you should buy and how much it should cost. Different features and qualities are going to be of importance to different people. High traffic? Stain resistance? Fiber type/material? Pets? Longevity? Brand name/reputation?

You need to educate yourself on carpet so you can determine what is important to you and so you can tell if you're comparing apples to apples when comparing carpets and prices. Nobody can accurately tell you what you need or what it will cost.

Just looking for regular carpet, not berber or any special, good pad, 10 year or higher warranty.

I'd suggest that you go out and get prices from your local suppliers. HD, Lowe's, The Big Box stores, then try the local flooring/carpet places, last, try the bargain places. The prices will be all over the board, based on the some of the differences that KCT listed.

I will say, for the prices that you listed, you will not find a "decent quality" carpet, nor a "decent quality" pad. These will be below that level, based on your limitations.

usually in the lower 48 you can find carpet installed for 3 bucks a square foot.
take your total sq footage and add 15%. then multiply by 3 bucks.
Shouldn't be hard to find an OK quality for that.
Not up in Alaska though

10 year warranty is mainly on top of the line products. 5 or possibly 7 year is more in your price range.
