What to do with old hardwood flooring?

Just weighing my options, but I'm planning to basicly rebuild my floor structurally, and as part of that I'm inclined to go with ceramic tile in the bathroom and carpet elsewhere, and as such plywood subfloor seems the way for me to go. While my joists are mostly garbage, the flooring is in decent shape.

Is there a business or anything that will take my hardwood floors and put them to some use or for whatever reason pay for them?

This is really a local question that requires a local answer. Craigslist would be one place to start. If you just want them out of the way and out of the landfill you could donate them to a Habitat for Humanity Restore if you have one nearby.

If you know someone who works with wood, they could run it through a planer and trim it down to the size they need for different projects.

If there is no Habitat store handy, cut the pieces to firewood length, advertise them as free on Craigslist, and they should disappear very quickly.

Put some on the curb on trash day.

Stack it high and watch it fly!

Yeah... I put a box out once with all my knob and tube wiring. I don't think it was there when I went through the door into the house.
