Washing my wood floors

Hi, I have wood floors that were covered by carpets from previous owners for many years. The floors have a tiny bit of finish on them. I am going to re-coat these floors in the spring time. For now, I plan to move some furniture in there and deal w/ them the way they are over the winter. What I would like to do is clean the floors to be serviceable over the winter. I know not to wax or buff, but what should I use or should I not use on the floors? Thanks.
