Wall separating from floor

Our house in on a concrete slab, we have no basement, our wall has separated from the floor. The wall is an exterior wall, everyone has a ton of solutions and what is wrong, but I am not sure what to do next. I have asked a contractor and he said dig a hole in the yard and remove the floor. HELP

At one time, they would pour footings for the outside walls and then pour the slab floor separate. If they didn't prepare the ground properly the floor would sink away from the walls. There are companies that can inject concrete under the slab and raise it back into place. Not a DIY project.

In the Ruskin area of KC, they built hundreds of homes in a hurry for defense workers during WW2. They built them like I desctibed in the other post and didn't tamp or roll the ground. In some of them the floors have sunk 6-8 inches. Most are cheap rentals.
