Vinyl tiles wont stick

I just recently put vinyl tiles on a cement floor. I used glue under them and initially it was fine. 24 hours later they were still good I did not know that the room had to be kept a certain temp and because we have not yet moved in I turned the heat off since no one would be there. Now there are a lot of areas that are coming apart at the seams. Please someone help me salvage this.

I bet you didnít check the concrete floor for moisture problems. In order to test for moisture, glue a single tile to your concrete floor and allow it to dry overnight. If you can remove it with your hands the next day, the floor has too much moisture for vinyl tile installation. Plus you lowered the heat down which in turn also added to the problem.

Also did you prep the concrete floor for proper installation of your vinyl tile?

Did you let the adhesive dry before you installed the tile? Tile adhesive has to be dry to the touch. If you install the tile on wet adhesive, it can take days to dry. And with the heat turned down, even longer.

That depends on the tile and the adhesive. There are plenty of vinyl tiles and adhesives for them that use a wet set method.

Not going to argue with you, but I have installed vinyl tiles as a pro for 40 years and I stick by my statement.

No I didn't check moisture and most of the glue was dry. Is there a way to save it or does it have to be done over? Its only bad in spots

Clean up the previous glue from the concrete and tile and then re-glue tile in place again.

I'm not saying you are wrong. Most VCT will install with a thinspred and be allowed to tack first, though it can be wet set in certain situations. Luxury or Solid Vinyl Tile on the other hand is often wet set. Nothing in the original post specifies what type of vinyl tile this is.

Most likely the temperature caused it. Out of curiosity, does the manufacturer say it can be glued down to concrete? It seems like you would need to seal the concrete or use underlayment to get good adhesion. But, I'm just speculating I've never done vinyl tile myself.

order of things when installing vinyl tile on concrete: perform moisture test, spread glue on floor if moisture test passes, let tack (not most, but all), install tile, roll flooring with 75-100 roller.
