vinyl tile over concrete

I just place a test piece of poly over the concrete slab and after 48 hours it was dry as a bone (it was raining out also). So now i am going to get vinyl tile for my laundry room. What is the proper process for doing this. Do I need glue or just the self stick? Thanks in advance for the help.....ok would you use the vinyl rolls?

I used the vinyl tile in the basement bathroom, which has a concrete floor. The tiles all heaved and cracked, without any water leaks. This winter it's getting real tile, my first time, but it should be fun. I'm not sure if you want to use it on concrete floors.

Good luck,

Ceramic or stone would be the best choice for a basement floor, next would be sheet vinyl if you want a vinyl product.

Ceramic is your best choice next to natural stone.... It will not scratch as easily as wood. It will not warp if it gets wet like wood and it does not look as cheap as laminmate. Also, as another poster brought out, carpet will go mouldy in a damp basement. Today's in floor heating systems are reasonably priced and do a good job on warming the tiles (I prefer to leave them alone - I like the cool feeling on my feet, very soothing)...

In case this might help, I was at a home show this weekend where I saw a new product that is carried at a lot of flooring places now. Home Depot was the booth with the display.

It's vinyl, looks like wood (much more realistic than laminate actually) and is in strips which resemble a single strip of wood. Each strip has a bit of self-stick lip which sticks to the adjacent strip. So basically a vinyl version of the way laminate goes down only easier. It also floats rather than being stuck to the floor which they told me makes it perfect for basement floors.

I was quite impressed by it and it was $2 a sq. ft (Cdn $$) so about the same as some self stick tiles without the worry of as much lifting.

I definitely agree with R&D, personally prefer ceramic even though stone look great too. It'll depend in the look you want to give to the whole space.
