Vinyl Plank flooring over VAT tiles in basement?

I am finishing about a 600 sq ft area of my basement and the plan is to use this vinyl plank flooring from lowes. vinyl plank floor

I am planning on just installing over the VAT tiles that are currently in place as I don't really see any reason to go through all the trouble of removing them.

Is there some sort of primer of cleaner or something I need to use so that the new vinyl tiles will adhere properly?

Vinyl Plank flooring over VAT tiles in basement?

what does the manufacturer recommend installing over or not installing over? not following their guidelines will void any warranty you might have.

Vinyl Plank flooring over VAT tiles in basement?

I can't find any manufacturer recommendations on this product. Its basically vinyl peel and stick. Not worried about any warranty though.

Vinyl Plank flooring over VAT tiles in basement?

Anyone have any tips on this? I am really debating on what to do here.

I don't know if I should remove the tiles or just go over top of them?

there is a possibility you could get a chemical reaction creating a bad smell ...don't know if you could treat/paint the VAT's with something to prevent this..I've seen it happen with hi end carpet tiles over floor tiles in office space ..they had to remove the carpet tiles and the floor tiles (not sure if they were VA)

if you do remove the tiles Google for procedures .. not complicated but important!

You can check with Lowe's and see what they recommend, or ask the manufacturer directly. Better be safe than sorry; and it can be an expensive back job, not to mention, tedious.
