VCT Trick Design: Cutting and Install Advice Please

Hi Friends,

Planning on installing a VCT floor this weekend. I've done many, so the basics are good, but for this floor, I'll be installing a diamond (i.e. Square tile turned 45 degrees) in the middle of four square tiles.

This pattern will necessitate cutting corners off each of the four square tiles in order to host the diamond. (see image below)

I've got a 12" vinyl tile cutter, but I'm not sure that is or is not the right tool for the job. There is little tolerance for error in this design.

Any tips on how to accurately measure then cut the corners for this design? I want to insure a tight, professional fit with minimal gapping.

Thanks for any advice you may have.

SR
