varnished floors too glossy

I put varnish on pine floors and it is too glossy..used satin varnish but till to bright for my tastes.

it has cured for over 3 weeks..my question is what can i do to matte the gloss? I really want a hand rubbed oiled look for the pine floors

Can I lightly sand the floors and use danish oil..which is an oil/varnish mix to get that look?

ALL advise and help is greatly appreciated!
