Using an underlayment in addition to a pre-attached pad on laminate
Hello, We're getting ready to install about 500 sq ft of laminate in our living room and kitchen. The flooring we selected is Allen and Roth (Lowe's). It's 10mm and has a pre-attached pad on the bottom.
We had also wanted to use QuietWalk as an underlayment to cut down on impact noise as well as hopefully cutting down on some airborne noise from the downstairs neighbor. We live in a 3rd floor condo, with a concrete subfloor. Will we have any issues with the floor being too soft if we use an underlayment on it? I've read some conflicting things on the internet. Lumber liquidators, for instance, says that you can use both. Most other things i've read say not to. Thanks! |

If LL says you can do it then I would not.
Seriously, what does the manufacturer say? Have you contacted them?

If using a laminate with an already attached underlay I would not use the other stuff too. The floor would have too much cushion, and having all of that give could actually make the boards bull apart from each other.
