Using concrete slab as flooring

I have terrible allergies and we have dogs as well. We have thought about pulling the carpet up in our bedroom and using the concrete slab as the flooring with some throw rugs. My question is whether this is safe to do as is or do I need to treat the concrete before hand. Thanks for any help.

The concrete should be fine. It can be stained to add some character. Just be aware, bare concrete can be bad for feet, legs and back over time. It also will be cold in the winter.

I recently pulled all carpet in our bedrooms, more recently in our dining room and in our basement. My wife and kids all suffer from allergies and we also have 3 big, very active dogs. Never ever will
I have carpet in a house.

On the 1st floor I replaced the carpet with laminate wood flooring. paid $17.00 per 25 sqf. plus some high quality underlayment ~$50.00 per 100 sqf. Well worth it.

Along your requirements, I am in the process of adding the same laminate flooring from
bedrooms to my basement on my concrete slab using delta-fl and cheap foam underlayment.

Looks and feels great and isn't terribly expensive. Much less than tile or carpet. Dogs loves it. See pictures.

I would polish or stain the concrete. It can look really nice. You can even grind in tile patterns, if you wanted. Search youtube for concrete acid staining and you can find a lot of how to info.
