unheated cottage floor
I just purchased a 30 year old unfinished cottage which has 2 layers of 3/8 chip board (is this the same as osb?). The cottage has been closed but not perfectly and the floor is squishy/wavey between the joists.
Can I just go over this floor with 3/4 ply or do I need to remove the existing floor and then try to fit 3/4 ply in (it won't be exact since the old flooring runs under the wall sill plates.
I suggest removing the old ,failing subfloor---use 3/4" bc (exposure 1) plywood--
Some will recommend Advantec sheeting---I haven't used it--but the water proof coating might be just what you need for a place that is unheated part of the year---
Wake up,Joe---I know you prefer that for floors----
