underlayment

I just pulled off all the 3/4" particle board underlayment off my kitchen floor. It got wet and blew up like a sponge. The 3/4" plywood sub floor is in good shape. I want to put down laminate flooring. What should I use for the underlayment for the laminate flooring ? Some have said luan underlayment or masonite or ? What would you suggest and why ? Thanks
