travertine pool decking

I am having an issue with whether or not I should seal my outside travertine decking around my pool. First was told yes and then was told no. It is not set in cement and is set on crushed fine like stone dust. It is
called something else. But can't think of it off-hand. Would appreciate any help before the cold weather sets in.
