Transition from Vinyl to Wood Question
my question is not about transition strips or how to do a transition I'm seeking advice WHERE TO START a transition. The kitchen will have a new Vinyl Tile Floor with grouting. There is a doorway into the Dining room right from the kitchen. The Dining room has the original Yellow Pine Flooring recently refinished.
I am wondering if anyone has opinions on this: A) stopping the tile short of the wood and using that short space to put the transition piece that will have it's edge at the end of the doorway in line with the wall B) run the tile right up to the edge of the doorway where the tile will meet the wood and then transition with a piece that will lay in the Dining room
I have a small diagram to illustrate. I have never done this before so I can't "think ahead" as to what issues I might encounter so I am asking B4 I start
The transition should occur in the center of the door jamb (where your dotted line is).
It lines up with the stop molding.
Are you 100% sure you want to use that tile with grout.
My installers refuse to install it anymore because linolium tends to shrink over time and all the grout lines cracked.
My local flooring company sent all there's back to the supplyer.
May want to do some more research on the net on that product line before installing.
There's other brands out there that have embossed grout lines and work out fine.
