Transition from Tile to Hardwood

I noticed that the tiles are about 1/8" higher than the hardwood floor, what is the best best way to transition from the tiles to the hardwood. I prefer not to use any transition strips. Is there are any alternative solutions, like to shimming the hardwood higher near the tiles?

Transition from Tile to Hardwood

If it isn't too late and if it bugs you that much, put 1/8" lauan underlayment under the hardwood floor. If the floor is already down all you can do is bevel the edge of the tile down to smooth the transition.
