Transition from hardwood to tile

Hi all:
I recently installed some tile in my bathroom and kitchen and I can't seem to find am adequate transition from the hardwood flooring (oak) to the tile. The top of the tile is almost an inch (thin set, hardibacker and tile) but most of what I have seen available doesn't deal with a transition this large. Any suggestions? I'm open to wood or any other materials. Thanks in advance.

Not knowing what your skill level is, I'll tell you what I would do as a finished contractor.

Purchase 5/4 x 4 stock to match the wood species.
Bevel the surface on the table saw and power planer to go from flush to the tile to 18" at the wood.
Cut to fit opening.
Sand and stain or poly to match existing wood floor.
3 coats oil poly minimum. This transition piece will get a lot of abuse.

Now let's hear from the others.

For a premade solution. Andersen makes a sloped transition piece used with their patio and french doors.

Tcleve: I thought about going that route. I'm not a great woodworker but It sounds pretty straight forward. If I can't find a premade solution, I think I'll go that route.

Any window dealer that sells Andersen products. You can go to the Andersen website and put your zipcode in the "Dealer locater" search box. Home Depot sells Andersen.
