Tips for hardwood removal glued to cement slab.

Need guidance on removing engineered hardwood floor in our living room that is glued down. Floor cannot be refinished an needs to go! Have to get all the wood and glue up so we can lay tile; what is the best way to do this?

There is no easy way to do it.

Your best bet is to buy a "heavy bar" (floor scraper) and go after it. Home centers sell scrapers that allow you to stand up and scrape the floor, in most cases the scrapers are weighted to improve impacting the flooring material. Just depends on how well the flooring was glued down to begin with.

The easiest way to remove glued down wood from concrete is to use a saw zaw with a 12" wood blade. The blade flexes enough to lay it flat on the floor and get under the wood and cut it away from the concrete. You can then remove the rest of the glue with a razor scraper.
