tiling over old concrete porch

I am using some large tiles as a border and then doing a central mosaic design in glass and tile, before grouting the whole area. This will take some time and I intend to do it in sections. The concrete is fairly rough (with some aggregate showing) but level. Do I need to use acid or other product to clean first? Or can I just hose, sweep and let dry?
