tiling over in floor radiant heat

My system is pex installed below the floor between the floor joists. I am getting ready to install finished floors, and have heard that there may be steps needed different from tiling or hardwood floors over a 'non-heated' floor due to the expansion and contraction resulting from the in floor heating. I generally install Durock over the subfloor, and tile on top of that, but it has been mentioned to me that I'll need a? crack isolation membrane to protect the finished project.

Any help would be great.

Thanks
Laura E

What do you have for a subfloor now?

Yes, a membrane such as Ditra is a good idea to use over the heating system, no durock needed if this is used.

Flexible thinsets are also available for such installations.

For subfloors: we have 3/4 osb on half of the area, and 3/4 plywood on the the other half
