Tiling the outside of the acryllic tub

Hi I was wondering if it is possible to tile the outside wall of atub (i.e., the side that faces out into the room). Has anyone ever done this, were you successful, and how did you do it?
(I figure I will have to rough up/sand the surface for any mortar to stick, and the top 1/3 of the right end of the tun is beveled, so how is the best way to even this out? Is it possible to attach that backer board to the side of the tub...?)
Thanks in advance!

I'll be interested to see the responses...don't need to, don't want to...it just sounds interesting...

Never done it, but I believe you could rough up the acrylic with some 40 or 50 grit discs and use latex modified thinset to bond cement backer board to it. Don't understand your description of the beveled part exactly, so no comment on it.
