Tiled Basement Shower Floor

Hi guys,

I'm putting a shower in the basement in an area where the floor already slopes towards an existing drain. I'm wondering what the recommended installation procedure is here? I'm assuming I can skip the pre-slope since the floor is already sloping towards the drain? Would I proceed with the PVC or CPE liner directly on the floor and then the top layer of deck mud?

Is it at all acceptable to use a clear coat sealer on the concrete instead of the plastic liner and then install ceramic tiles directly on that?

Thanks!

Post a picture if you can----

there are three popular methods of building a pan----

Deck mud with a PVC or Rubber liner----

Deck mud or Styrofoam pan with surface membrane---(Schluter Ditra) and others

Deck mud with a paint on membrane----Hrdroban by Latacrete----How to build a shower - Building a shower pan with pre-sloped mortar bed, liner and curb.

Latacrete and Schluter have sites and Youtube is loaded with both companies videos.
