Tile with NO grout?

Was in the local hospital visiting a relative and noticed the floors in one rather large area have been tiled with no spacing at all. No grouting done.

In the area that is this way it has been down for several years with no apparent ill effects, but It's the first time I've ever seen tile without a grout line.

Actually looked good too...

Anyone else ever seen it done that way?

Tile with NO grout?

In a hospital of all places, how do they keep it clean???

I never thought grout was optional.

Tile with NO grout?

Is it ceramic tile?

Vinyl tile does not use grout.

I'm surprised you felt the need to ask...

Actually a very nice 24" ceramic tile as a matter of fact. Were it vinyl I wouldn't have bothered posting...

Tile with NO grout?

KT,
I hope your relative is doing fine. If you have a chance to get back to tat hospital , could you get some pictures of this no-grout ceramic?
I also have never seen a no-grout ceramic tile - especially like it has been noted - on a hospital where it would be cleaned extensively daily.

Tile with NO grout?

If I were to have to guess I would say it eliminates stains ect blood and other bottle fluids that might get into the grout, as grout doesn't have stability over tile.
I could be wrong but sounds right lol

Tile with NO grout?

Relative is out of the hospital so I'm hopeful that I have no need to get back there anytime soon...

Personally I think the cleanliness thought may be the reason it was done.

First time I've ever seen it, or noticed it.
