tile maintenance?

I was just wondering if there's any longer-term maintenance that should be done with tile (just regular ceramic, I believe), such as waxing or sealing?

Nothing required for ceramic tile other than occasional cleaning and maybe re-sealing of grout under some circumstances.

alright so glaze is for other types of tiles then? I dunno about sealing grout on these, the grout's dark so it looks good (wish I could say the same about the bathroom's lines!!)

"Glaze"????

Where is that coming from? Most ceramic tile is glazed, I assumed you were talking about glazed ceramic tile.

Can you volunteer some more information.

tile maintenance?

Do's and Don't of Ceramic Tile Care
  1. Do not combine ammonia and household beaches.
  2. Do not use harsh cleaning agents (such as steel wool pads), which can scratch or damage the surface of your tile.
  3. Do not use a cleaning agent that contains color on unglazed tile. It has a relatively porous body and may absorb the color.
  4. Do test scouring powders in a small area before using on tile.
  5. Do use silicone sealer on grout joints if continuous staining is a problem.
  6. Do read and follow label directions for all cleaners.
  7. Do see your nearest Tile distributor for advise on special cleaning problem or if you have any question

hope it helps

I thought it was a glaze, must've been a wax

Basically, the tiles in my kitchen are, presumably, pretty old. I figured that if there is any waxing/sealing/glazing/etc that is an option/recommendation, it'd be a good idea to go for to keep the average cleanings sweepings and not moppings
