Tile Floor on Concrete

I would like to lay a cermamic slate tile floor in our bathrooms. If our sub floor is concrete do I need to install backer board? Do I need to level the subfloor?

Ceramic or Slate, which is it?, no backerboards over concrete, the floor has to be flat, is it?, any cracks, paint or sealers on it?

it would be nice to see an anti fracture membrane of some sort used first before install of the tile.

Presley,

You didn't think anyone could possibly answer that question....did you?

Anyway, you should start your own thread.

no hardie backer would be used because you dont have hardwood flooring
i would use a motified thenset to help for bonding to the concreate if you have any cracks use flex guard or anti fracture membrane like hydroguard 9235 or flex guard
but the question is are you using slate if so you might have to wetset the floor "meaning float as you set" because slate is not the same gage thicker and thiner unless you spend alot for it to be gaged which is rare. most people dont
