Tile on exposed edge (floor)

I am tiling the entrance in our basement, its an area about 9ft deep and 20ft long, the 20ft long side that is not against an exterior wall will transition to carpet and continue on

Is it better to put whole uncut tiles against that edge and tile against that as a reference point, or still go for the exact center of the room? as the starting point and cut these tiles to be equal size to the other side that is against a wall?

Those tile are going to show the most, I'd use whole tiles there and use the cut tiles on the outside edges.
