Tile adhesive

I'm going to install some slate tile on a concrete floor. My first experience with this. Should I use thinset or adhesive to put it down? The floor is flat but was painted years ago. How should I prep it? Does the paint have to come off?

Tile adhesive

The adhesive you should use is thin set mortar. Never use mastic, especially for floors and wet areas.

You need to remove the paint by grinding, no chemicals. Once you do that we can evaluate whether more prep is needed.
