Tile adhesive

Gary Sutherland Member   Join Date: May 2008 Posts: 34	Tile adhesive I'm going to install some slate tile on a concrete floor. My first experience with this. Should I use thinset or adhesive to put it down? The floor is flat but was painted years ago. How should I prep it? Does the paint have to come off? Gary

JazMan Tileguy     Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Troy, Michigan Posts: 3,265	Tile adhesive The adhesive you should use is thin set mortar. Never use mastic, especially for floors and wet areas.
