Tape Adhesive residue

After I installed a lovely new ceramic tile floor and used Gundlach spray grout sealer on all the grout lines, the painters tape stuck to the tile. I had lined each tile with tape to prevent overspray getting onto the tile itself, but now the tape adhesive won't come up! What is a good product to rub on the tape adhesive?

You may already have a solution at home.
  • If you have Windex, try it
  • WD40 may work but you have to leave it on for 5 minutes
  • Peanut butter works but again it may take 5 minutes- Try it
and when you find the solution, please post your result
Thanks

You individually taped all 4 sides to every tile ? Hope you had a small area to do. For future reference.. Overspray with Gundlach isn't an issue and for the most part dries clear with very minimal residue, and any residue there might be will be taken care of with your normal mopping. What color was the painters tape you used anyway?

Test an area first to make sure it will not discolor but GooGone, Ooops, Krud Kutter are some possibilities for adhesive removal. Rubber cement thinner should work too and is not so oily. You might also try a hair dryer and a scrap wash cloth before any chemicals.

Tape Adhesive residue

Well, I spent 3 weeks putting all that tape down to prevent the overspray because it said prevent getting the Gundlach Sealer on the tile, and I read it somewhere else too. The tape is blue, but the worst of the blue color is up, now the grungy adhesive and dirt is still stuck. I don't want to ruin the nice 3-layer Gundlach Sealer I managed to spray on each grout line, so I don't want to get something too harsh.

So far the cleaner (pH Neutral) gets some up but a lot of scrubbing! I will try steel wool next and the windex - got a lot of it. Thanks for your suggestions ALL!

DO not use steel wool, anything left behind will leave rust spots.
Use a Scotch brite pad.
