t & g pine problems

I installed t & g pine over 4 x 8 beams in a loft in my new home, within 1 year the boards have spread to ove 3/8" apart from each other in certain places. When I installed them they were tight and nailed down securely. I spent many hours  with car jacks trying to get them back together with no luck, does anybody have any suggestions, I am even thinking of putting carpet over it, but dont know if the carpet will end up with wrinkles if the boards move again. Plase help me

Sorry to hear that you used 'green' lumber. Most carpet will translate a 3/8" gap. You may want to think about adding a luan subfloor prior to the carpet.
