Subfloor with High Spot

Hi,

I'm in the process of installing some 3/4" hardwood and noticed that on the main subfloor(OSB) there is a high spot over a particular joist. I placed a 7 foot straight edge over this spot where both ends are above the floor around a 1/4". I thought about fixing the joist, unfortunately the basement below is finished, alternatively I thought about using several layers of roofing shingles with felt paper. Is better to hire a professional to fix the subfloor. Any other recommendations?

Thanks

Your saying the floor is only up a 1/4" and your installing 3/4" hardwood. I would take a belt sander to the high spots. even if you cut down half that you should be fine.
