Subfloor ? for Hardwood floors

I'm putting hardwood floors in my bedroom and after ripping up the carpet and the 3/4" particle board underlayment i'm left with a 1/2" CDX structural subfloor.

At this point, i question what i need to do about this. My thinking is to lay 3/4" B/C plywood glued and nailed perpendicular on top of the 1/2" The 1/2" is slightly uneven across the joists and i fear anything less than 3/4" layed down is not going to help.

Or

Do i need to cut out the 1/2" sub lay 3/4" t&g ply and be done with it. If i do this would this affect the structure stability of the walls since the walls are built on top of the 1/2"?

WHich is the right way to get this done?
Thanks

This will be fine. If the dips are extensive, you could use a primer and self-leveling compound or even a modified thinset to float the low areas then install the 3/4".

No. T&G would be used directly over the joists. Since you already have the 1/2" CDX, you can use the b/c plywood over it.

Good luck
