Stiff enough for ceramic tile ?

My subfloor is 3/4" Avantech T&G, screwed and glued, on 2x8 joists on 19.2 centers spanning 7.5'.

Is this stiff enough for ceramic tiles, and if so what is the name of the 'backer board' that needs to go over the subfloor before laying the tiles ?

And does it (backer board) come in different thicknesses; if so, what thickness should I use, and what is the best way to attach it to the subfloor ?

And should I limit the size of the tiles to 12" square, rather than the larger tiles to lessen the chance of cracking ?

Also, if tiles are ok, are ceramic tiles ever used in living rooms or bedrooms, or would that be kind of weird ?

Thanks,
Arky

You are solid as a rock--918---360 is minimum for tile--720 minimum for natural stone--

Backer for floors is 1/4"--also available in 1/2" if you need to add height--

Set backer into a bed of fresh thinset--1/4 x1/4 trowel--roofing nails or rock screws see the manufactures instructions for nailing pattern--
