Sticky wood floors
My wood floor got wet after a pipe burst. We tried to clean it up as quickly as possible. 1 year later the floor stays sticky all the time. I've tried using vinegar and other non toxic things to get it clean looking and feeling. But it always has a sticky feel and look. What other options do I have? Would anyone try mineral spirits?
What kind of a wood floor?
Did you have it installed?
Is it engineered wood?
Is it full dimension wood?
Is the finish solvent based?
Is the finish water based?
How old is the floor?
The floor is from Bruce. It's a floating floor, 3 layer, with an Exotic type top layer - looks very much like cherry. The floor was pre-finished, so I don't have a clue as to the type of finish. I did the install myself. The flooring is about 13 years old.
This sticky problem is only in one spot.
Mineral spirits will not hurt the floor. Do not pour it directly on floor. Use a rag and saturate an area.
