Stairway stringer?

I am installing hardwood floor in my family room, there are three steps from the kitchen down into this room. What I would like to know is where these stringers sit on the subfloor shoud I floor around them or cut them off the 3/4" and go under them?

Thanks in advance!

Go around them, stringers are supporting the stairs
You don't cut them

Cut around them. But.... this means you are adding 1 1/4" to the floor. Now the bottom step is that much less than all the others. This is very unsafe and against codes. If you are installing laminate flooring you might get away with it. But then you need to cut around anyway since these are floating floors and you need a clear gap at all edges so the floor does not buckle.

To be exact about Bob's point: if you floor around the stringers will the stairs comply with IRC R311.5.3.1?
