Stairs - Match Upstairs or Downstairs Hardwood?
 

I plan on installing engineered hardwood on my first floor entryway/great room, perhaps something like a Brazilian Koa. My house is a split level, so I have a 7-step staircase (oak hardwood) leading up to the next level of bedrooms, which are oak hardwood. Is is OK if the oak hardwood staircase does not match the new and different Brazilian Koa on the first floor? The oak hardwood floors in the bedrooms and hallway is in excellent condition and doesn't need to be replaced. Any suggestions?

It's ok in my book. But I've got something like four different hardwood surfaces in my house.... make that five. And one of my staircases has two different woods on it (more modern oak from 1st-2nd floor 200 year old heart of pine from 2nd-3rd floor).
