stair laminating

I am putting laminate flooring in my downstairs, would also like to do the stairs ( 8 plus 2 landings) . any suggestions as what to do about the side pieces that hold the runners and risers they are about 1" thick, but would need too much work to get ready to paint so thought about laminating these also but they are kind of goofy

stair laminating

Any time I have donr stairs i just scribe and cut tight to the stringers with both the treads and risers.

A little prep work and paint is still going to be less time than trying to fit laminate on them
