Staining wood floors

Our floors are polyed right now. We would like to get them sanded down and stained a different color. If we were to have a floor guy sand them down and get them prepped could we stain them ourselves?

Sure you could. Make sure to tell the floor refinishing guy that all he's being hired to do is sanding and you will stain it. Keep in mind though, that staining a floor can turn into a fiasco if you don't know what you're doing. The flooring pros can make the floor come out beautiful in a relatively short time.

Staining wood floors can be a DIY thing....but let me stress that being clean is one of the most important things....the staining is easy....but when it comes time for the poly? ANY dirt will show up...

When you think you have the floor clean....then clean it again....and when you think you have it real it again...

Even if you are on the right track, you will still get run over if you just sit there.

Staining wood floors

I would let the pro do it. It would not cost a whole lot more and you know if will look good. Getting stain even is not nearly as easy as it looks.
