I had a contractor prepare (sand and clean) my finished basement flooring after a flood resulted in us having to remove all the carpeting. They put a beautiful stain down - looks like brown marble then sealed it. The seal has a beautiful shiny finish- it was a 2 part epoxy seal from Sherwin Williams. This was done one week ago. Now that we have walked on it a bit putting furniture back in I went to wash with a damp mop and the finish hazes over. I had the contractor back and he did not know what the cause was. He said to wax it. Even when waxing the areas that have been washed and are now hazy they continue to be hazy. Very disappointed - I understood that a sealed concrete treatment like this would allow for high traffic and stay shiny for a long time. Let alone one week of walking on it by 2 people and a little clean water and it hazes over?? What can I do to keep the shine like it was after sealed and before I cleaned it with water. Why would water ever haze a sealed surface like this?
