squeaky floors

We have moved into a house that has very loud floors. Usually I would nail the wood down but there was new flooring installed and we don't want to replace it. How do I stop the squeaking?

With that little info no way to tell.
What is the subflooring made of?
What's the width of the floor joist, free spans, spacing?
You say there's new flooring, what is it.

Not going to like it but all this should have been addressed before the new flooring went in.

You may be able to address it from below, if you can get to it. And I'll echo Joe's question - what floor covering do you have?

There is carpet, linoleum, and the cheap wood floor. I've heard it called a floating wood floor. None of it is too hard to replace. Just not wanting to add to the list right now.

I would try to add some shims from below if you have access from the basement or crawl space.

No problem. Another method is using the squeak b gone. Just google it and you will easily find it. It's scored screws that you can add to the floor that are specially made to break off below the surface.
