Squeak from T&G in Subfloor

Hi!

I have a new house and believe they used Weyerhaeuser edge panels for the subfloor. I'm almost positive they are T&G ends.

In any case, my subfloor has developed rather annoying squeaks between the plywood. I'm talking about where the t&g is. As a test, I slapped a piece of 1/2" plywood with construction adhesive in the crack of the subfloor (from the basement), and screwed the piece of plywood up there. I believe the piece of plywood I used is 15" or so wide and about 2 feet long.

Is this the correct way to fix the problem? THere's a number of other areas I want to tackle, but before I make a mess of something, I wanted to confirm that this is the right thing to do. Also, how many screws do I have to use to hold up the plywood?

Never seen it done that way.
Is the subfloor exposed from above?
How many nails were used to attach the sheets to the joist?
Did they use constrution adhesive on top of the joist?
I would not be wasting my time with plywood laying flat like that.
Vertical 2 X blocking would do two things, stop it from flexing and keep the joist from twisting.

The subfloor is not exposed from above; only from underneath in the basement. They glued and screwed the subfloor to the joists. I'm not exactly sure how many screws were used when they screwed it down.

I was actually doing some research and came across this document.

On page 5, figure 13, is what I was doing. The plywood was getting to be a pain because it was big. If I could use 2x4's (like figure a-a), it would be easier, but I don't know if that would fix it.

Use 2 X 6's instead.
Before installing apply some constrution adhesive along the seam in the subflooring.
How's it going to squeek any more if it can not move?

Thanks again for the response and reply. I wanted to tackle some of this today, so much thanks.

The pdf suggests using Gorilla glue. I used some construction adhesive in my test run, but was thinking that gorilla glue might be a little better since it expands. Any thoughts?
