spacing for laminate install

Just bought a home and im trying to replace three bedrooms with laminate as fast and as cost effective as possible. I read that you need a 1/4 inch between the wall and the end of the board, and no less than that. But what if there is more?

In my case the existing moldings where just a slight bit to low for the laminate to fit under. So rather than remove all the molding or trim a bit off the bottom, I opted to space the floor a 1/4 inch from the existing moldings and will be adding a show molding to the existing molding.

Will this be a problem?

spacing for laminate install

What molding are you talking about, the baseboard or the 1/4 round?
The spacing needed should be written right on the box or on a sheet of paper inside the box.
Laminite is not slid under any moulding, the 1/4 round or shoe comes off and the laminite gets spaced out away from the baseboard. Once the floors in the shims or spacer come out and the 1/4 round goes back down making 100 % sure not to nail into the flooring, the floor must be able to float, If it slid under the baseboard you would have no way to space it out and be able to remove the spacers.
You did under cut the door casings and pick up some transition strips for the doorways right?
